I’ve been a production editor at Simon & Schuster since April 2015, which means I coordinate the copyediting and the proofreading for all my titles. Before that, I lived in Boston and spent almost three years working in educational publishing, both for Pearson and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. I’m a graduate of Emerson College’s MA in Publishing and Writing program, which I finished in May 2013. In addition to my editing skills, I’m also very experienced in digital publishing, with experience in ebook creation in both EPUB and MOBI, HTML, CSS, and Adobe products like InDesign, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop.
That’s my day job, but in my spare time (ha. ha. spare time. ha.), I like to write. You can find all my publications on my publications page. Magical realism is my favorite genre, and two of the writers who have inspired me the most are Aimee Bender and Manuel Gonzales.
More fun background information: I graduated from the University of Arizona in sunny Tucson in May of 2011 magna cum laude with a BA in Creative Writing with Honors and Linguistics and a minor in Mathematics, because, yes, people DO exist who like both writing and math. After fielding many rounds of “So . . . what do you want to DO with that major?” questions, I finally hit on publishing around my junior year and am so glad that particular epiphany hit me. While at U of A, I spent four years in the Pride of Arizona marching band playing the clarinet and joined Tau Beta Sigma, the national honorary band sorority.
I also like books (take me into a bookstore at your own risk), alphabetizing things (move my books around at your own risk), and parenthetical statements (can’t you tell?).
